Jacqueline Escamilla has been dancing for 12 years in contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, Latin styles, and more. As a proud Latina, she looks forward to serving her community by sharing stories of their lived experience as minorities in the U.S. Her projects focus on uplifting Latine dancers and allowing freedom of expression through her choreography and movement vocabulary. Escamilla has worked with Viver Brasil Dance Company for Disney’s ¡Viva Navidad! Street Parade in 2023-2024 under the direction of Vera Passos and Linda Yudin. You can find her currently working at Young Champions, a recreational sports organization, as a Hip-Hop Instructor teaching children around Orange County. Escamilla obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at California State University, Long Beach where she performed for Danzel Thompson-Stout and Rebecca Bryant. In the summer of 2024, she worked with Eliza Wang and Madison Torquato in the MA Practicum at CSULB. As Escamilla continues to develop her choreographic voice, she is proud to have shared two works in the CSULB Contemporary Festival involving Latine stories such as immigration and family dynamics in the works Sin Decirlo and El Camino.
